New Vendor FAQ

The West Tisbury Farmer’s Market is comprised of a mix of farm and non-farm vendors. A strict 2-1 ratio of farm to non-farm vendors is maintained by the market. There are no exceptions.

While we welcome all community members to apply, please read the following F.A.Q. before you consider applying!

Am I a farm vendor?

  • Farmers must grow themselves fruits, grains, vegetables, dairy, meat, raw honey, herbs, flowers and potted plants, (the latter being raised at least 75% on the farm.) Those harvesting seafood, salt and wild edibles from Martha’s Vineyard and the surrounding waters are also eligible.

  • Value-added products such as honey, cheese, wool, yogurt and herbal-based product must contain significant ingredients from the farm, as determined by the WTFM Committee

Am I a non-farm vendor?

  • Your food products are baked, cooked or otherwise made on-Island under your direct supervision

What if I make an artisan or craft product?

  • As per our bylaws, we cannot accept the applications of artisans. Please refer to the artisans fair or other Island artist markets

How does the market operate?

  • The West Tisbury Farmers Market is a non-profit operation that is governed by a rotating committee of elected vendors. You can read our By-Laws here.

When are applications released?

  • The application period is currently open. Applications are usually sent out to prospective and returning vendors in February. Get one here!

When are applications due?

  • Applications are due annually on the first day of Spring. No applications will be accepted after March 19th, 2024.

How long is the Market season?

  • Market runs from mid June through October; exact dates will be listed on the application

How do I receive an application?

  • The application link is at the top of the page. Application includes instructions and additional information. Please fill out the temporary food establishment permit application if you are a food vendor.

Does filling out an application guarantee admission to the market?

  • No: each application is reviewed by the WTFM Committee. All applicants will be contacted regardless of admission

What is the cost to participate?

  • Vendor fees reflect the costs of market operations, which are shared equally amongst vendors for each market day, Wed and Sat, and generally fall between $20 and $40 per market. The full season’s fee is due after the first market of the year, and will be listed on the application.

Do I have to attend every market if my application is accepted?

  • Yes. The expectation is that you will make every effort to be at each market for the sake of week-to-week continuity for our patrons. While we know that perfect attendance is not always possible, all absences should be communicated with the Market Manager in advance so that open spots may be temporarily filled.
